Our TapSongz Team continues to search for fresh new music all over online through SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Spotify. We recently came across Gaius Terran, a rising artist who has a lot of potential. We interviewed Gaius to learn more about his path to today, favorite artists and brand new project that is begin released on May 1!
"I'm from Des Moines, Iowa. I've lived in Iowa all my life aside from a few wonderful years in southern Colorado," Terran told our TapSongz Team. He began focusing on music in sixth grade, but only began actively recording more recently in 2017.
Gaius is working on a brand new EP "Zenith". "I started writing all the lyrics, minus editing, last year while attending Iowa State University and working overnights in a nursing home," Terran said. "Grimes said in an interview she began making music because the death of a friend made her realize how short life is. I began writing "Zenith" because I read that interview," Terran told our TapSongz Team. The cool part is the rising musician was able to crank out five high quality tracks in only three months.
The EP is amazing to listen to, with our TapSongz Team's personal favorite track "Burn Red Phoenix". We also really enjoyed "Suffer No Fools". It is clear that Terran never ran out of creativity and was able to produce such a wide variety of music, which is what makes the new project so special.
Gaius has been influenced by music for a while now, having seen Regina Spektor twice last summer he recalls absolutely loving her sound live. But there is one artist that Terran would love to collaborate with. "Grimes, I think we would vibe well and I really dig her aesthetic. Also she's a fabulous director and I would love her to do a music video for me," Terran added.
One of the dopest parts about Terran's music is he does it all. "My music is entirely produced, written, performed, and recorded by me," he said. It is always so cool to find artists who complete song from start to finish on their own, truly showing how musically talented they are.
