Tapsongz had the privilege of interviewing the rising star Jared Anthony! Jared is from a small town, Kingsville, Ontario, and recalls music always playing a large role in his life. Growing up his go-to genre was rock and gradually started enjoying hip-hop and rap as well. “From a young age I have always been into music, but specifically remember skateboarding to Blink 182,” Jared told our TapSongz Team. The punk rock vibes were where it was at for him. From Blink 182, he then expresses his love for Eminem and Lil Wayne. These artists were a huge influence on him and inspired him to start making his own music.
Jared began perfecting his own craft of music at the young age of 14 right when he was starting high school. Creating music back then was a little different compared to now as he and a friend would make their own songs together on the app Garageband. He has since upgraded the platform he creates music on, however, the way he makes his songs has not. It has always been him and his buddy cranking out tunes together, still to this day. This shows in his music as the sound is so original and made to perfection before being released. Jared also explained to us the unique way he writes music. Unlike many other artists who normally write versus and then lay it down on a beat, Jared prefers to hear his beats first and freestyle. Jared explains his way of writing as a step-by-step process. “I listen to a beat and begin my writing bar by bar. I build each song one line at a time,” he said. Each beat gives him a different vibe and he decides after hearing the type of song he plans to create (ex: breakup song or banger). Speaking of the way he creates songs, we were able to dive a little deeper into some of his most popular songs and gain some insight.
If you have not heard the bop “MayDay” yet, you may want to que that song right now! This banger of a track really blew up as it is featured on the video game NBA2K21. The tune was published with United Masters who is an independent distributor. It just so happens that United Masters has a partnership with NBA 2K, and “MayDay” was selected for the 2K21 soundtrack. Jared expressed how he did not even know the song was going to be in the game until it launched saying “it was such a natural way to get on the game, and it was sweet to hear my song in 2k”. Not only was “MayDay” a huge hit in NBA2K21, but the song “Photograph”, which Jared is also on is on the 2K soundtrack as well! Two songs on NBA2K21 is a huge accomplishment, being known among gamers as consistently having one of the hottest soundtracks each year of any video game.
“MayDay” has a fire music video as well. Jared explained his initial ideas for the video saying “I knew we needed a plane, but we were unable to rent out a single plane, so instead we rented out a whole airport in Windsor to shoot”. The video is incredible, showcasing some old fighter planes and including a very dope green screen background that was in fact a painted picture (shout out to TAE KLIPS). This video was fantastic, but be on the look out as Jared will be dropping a new video soon and thinks it will top “MayDay’s”!
Another unreal track of Jared’s is “BloodySneakers” and a personal TapSongz favorite. When creating this song, Jared had no idea it was going to be as popular as it is. “I didn’t know it was going to be the vibe that everyone was messing with” he recalls, but indeed it is just that. The beauty of Jared’s music is that you can listen from any emotional vantage point and vibe to the song. One day you are blasting “MayDay” and vibing to the beat while rapping the lyrics, another you are lying in bed with headphones on focusing on the lyrics more and feeling what a breakup is all about. “BloodySneakers” is a short but sweet song that has all fans begging for more content to drop.
Fans will certainly not be disappointed as Jared is planning to drop a new song nearly every week. Anthony is writing new music all of the time and can crank out new songs every day. A perfect example of this would be the song “Down” as he quoted wrapping that song up start to finish in under 20 minutes. Jared explained “even if I do not create a new song that week, I have so many in the bank ready to go”. Everyone be ready as Jared Anthony is ready to take 2021 by storm.
Looing into the future, he has a goal of doing more shows if things open back up and get back to a new normal. Early in 2021 he signed an official manager, and they are testing the waters and excited to keep pushing the envelope.
