Our TapSongz team continues to search for talented new musicians and fresh music as we head further into summer. 2019 has been a strong year for finding new rap, EDM, and R&B music and there is certainly no shortage of talent out there. We recently came across Kansas City, KS, artist JsapDaMusicNerd and had the opportunity to interview him to learn more about his past and latest project.
JsapDaMusicNerd first explained his creative, unique artist name. "I was given the name J Sap by one of my cousins years ago and the name stuck with me. Combine that with being classified as a nerd because of my tech background and I sort of fused the two together," he told our TapSongz Team. Early on, J Sap was exposed to music including playing instruments and singing in the church choir. "I was a teenager when I initially started pursuing music as a DJ. It was such a thrill to see the crowd reaction when playing certain records," JsapDaMusicNerd said.
Growing up, the talented artist had plenty of inspirations. "I listened to everything from hip-hop, pop, to electronic and love Afrika Bambaataa, Van Buuren, Prince, Run DMC, Jay-Z, 2-Pac, and Snoop Dogg to name a few." J Sap utilized these inspirations to pursue his own passion for music and recently worked on a new EDM project titled 'I KANDI', that will drop mid to late August via AWAL distribution. The project will be his first debut album as an EDM artist. "We are building momentum by releasing singles and mashups on SoundCloud. The latest single is called 'Lost in Love', which is picking up some steam and currently #16 on repostexchange," J Sap told our TapSongz Team. Other prior releases such as 'Summwav' and 'Breathe Remix' have generated over 100K and 50K streams, respectively.
As for 2019 and 2020, J Sap is preparing for the 'I KANDI' project and also plans to release a follow-up project called 'Nerd Music' after that. "In addition, I plan to expand in producing and signing talented artists to J SAP Productions," he told our TapSongz Team. "We have a clothing line we are working on as well in which I can't reveal the name just yet. But music is my first priority." There is no doubt that JsapDaMusicNerd is keeping busy between his own production company, clothing line launch as well as his own original music, but we love young hungry artists who are motivated to succeed. J Sap is a big fan of Kaskade as well as Tritonal and uses these modern EDM artists as influences in his work.
