Our TapSongz Team continues to search for high quality music throughout all genres. We recently came across Krosst Out, a talented up and coming artist out of Toronto, Canada. We had the opportunity to interview him to learn more about his path and goals within the music industry.
Originally from a small town in Ontario called Campbellford, Krosst Out grew up with a passion for music. "I had a lot of different artists I would listen to. I had my dad feeding me all of the classic rock: Eric Clapton, The Who, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix. Then as a teen I was listening to Jurassic 5, Eminem, Rakim, Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails," Krosst Out recalled. "I was everywhere from one genre to the next, which I think you can really hear in my music.
With so many influences and music having such a strong impact on him growing up, Krosst Out wanted to give it a go himself. He would spend hours writing songs after school, during school, at night staying up until 2am. One thing was certain: Krosst Out was not lacking dedication to music. He loved it. Originally looking at the rapper name Crossed Out, the rising rapper realized it was already taken by a band, but wanted to stick with the theme. "So to keep the name I wanted to change it's spelling. That's when I changed it to Krosst Out. I felt it was representative of who I was because I always felt that growing up I was crossed out of the group, the outsider, the one that was weird and I didn't have many friends," he told our TapSongz Team.
Fast forward to today and Krosst Out is no outsider and working harder than ever to perfect his music and sound. He recently released an EP "LIFEOFTHEPARTY", which took him a while to put together. "I had to build the hype around it and honestly the hype was months and months. Singles dropping, announcements of artwork, all these things that went into building the release," he said. Along with producer Adam Van Ameringen, the guys held a release party on March 10th. Krosst Out headlined and did the entire EP live and had other artists come out to perform as well. "It was a crazy experience to make this thing happen!"
Our TapSongz Team particularly loved Krosst Out's track from the project which was titled "I Don't Care" featuring Mel Yelle. We are a huge fan of Mel Yelle's voice who is part of the duo Melotika, and has previously been featured and interviewed on our website. The track has an awesome beat and we love the collaboration between Krosst Out and Mel. The super catchy pop beat sets the tone perfectly with Mel Yelle's soft vocals. Instruments flare throughout the background and Krosst Out is able to smoothly rap over the beat. "I had these verses written when I brought it to Adam and we reworked the whole thing, keeping mostly the piano. We hauled Mel into the studio to record her chorus that she rewrote," Krosst Out said. The project definitely came together very well.
We also had the opportunity to listen to Krosst Out's brand new track that will be released on June 23! The track was outstanding and we loved hearing the progression in the rising rapper's music. It is a collaboration with Myer Clarity, whose been having a great start to 2017 in the music world. Krosst Out is excited for fans to give it a listen later this summer so be on the lookout! Moving forward the up and coming artist is looking to release more material and do many more shows to continue to build his fan base.
Our TapSongz Team was impressed what Krosst Out has been able to accomplish so far in his career. We are very excited to hear his new material being released this summer and if it is anything like his last EP we think fans will be pumped to get their hands on more. We encourage all of our viewers to give Krosst Out's music a listen below and on YouTube! Be sure to follow him on Twitter to stay up to date with his latest releases!
