This week our Tapsongz team had the pleasure to interview the talented Lucille Croft. In our in-depth interview, Lucille explains how she became interested in creating her own unique music and making a name for herself. The Australian native first began to pursue her hobby about four years ago. On the contrary of her own music, she did not grow up listening to electronic music, but instead was a huge fan of Linkin Park, The Doors and Limp Bizkit. Lucille loved bands, explaining that she enjoyed the aggression and energy in them. Reflecting on her adolescent self, Lucille described herself as “your typical angry and confused teenager”. She credits these bands mentioned for getting her through her adolescent years and for enlightening her on how powerful music truly is.
Lucille’s adventurous musical expedition all started nearly four years ago. She began as a techno DJ, and soon progressed into a producer. So far it has been a wild journey, but throughout her time in the industry, she is discovering what genre of music she truly loves to create. “I still love techno, but it’s just not what I want to write. I like dark, twisted, bass-driven music at the moment,” Lucille told our TapSongz team.
When asked about her 2019 plans, Lucille responded vibrantly by saying “This year is all about showing the world Lucille Croft”. She explains how the new year will be utilized to put herself on the map She plans on doing so by collaborating with new artists, and is very excited for her upcoming releases. Lucille has a thrilling tour planned around Australia and Asia this year, which is inspired by her new release “Don’t Go”. The track features Lucille’s good friend and amazing vocalist Micah Martin. “It actually all came together from the vocal. I heard his voice on one of Kayzo’s songs that I was listening to, and found him on social media and reached out. Once I heard the vocal I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the song – the drop, break, feeling…everything,” the young producer said.
The new single, out today, is a perfect way for the rising Melbourne artist to kick off 2019 and will be a trend for the rest of the year. “I’ll be releasing the best music I’ve ever made, and starting to bring unique elements to my shows,” Lucille said. “I’m collaborating with some seriously incredible people a few years ago I’d have never thought to be possible,” she added.
Beyond the new single, Lucille mentioned a few goals that have been on her mind. One major goal is to collaborate with bands so she can intertwine her love for rock music with her talents in production. Another major step forward for Lucille is to make a major leap in the U.S. music scene, which is not an easy task. Lucille is eager to spread her music in the U.S., and would love to soon be doing shows across the nation. Aside from producing her music, Lucille will be launching her very own lingerie label called “bad wolf intimates”. She is passionate about fashion and is excited to see where her lingerie label could take her. “Music is like my form of self-expression, I love to create. It’s why I have the lingerie label and blog. Creating is the only thing that keeps me sane.” We love Lucille’s refreshing sound and can’t wait to see what she is able to accomplish in 2019. Here at TapSongz, we thank you for reading this exclusive interview as we continue finding tomorrow’s greatest music today!
