Here at TapSongz, our team is devoted to finding talented artists who deserve more exposure in the music industry for their hard work and efforts! We have been contacted and reached out to many different artists from a variety of genres. We believe that talented artists should be rewarded for their hard work so our team will continue to post articles on many different artists to give you the inside scoop on what is going on in the music industry!
This week we had the opportunity to look closer at Marga Lane, a very talented musician out of the Berklee College of Music! Lane was born in Staten Island and lived in Brooklyn when she was a child before moving to Carmel, New York. She had a deep passion for music at an early age, looking up to artists such as Spice Girls, ‘NSync and Christina Aguilera. Lane started playing the piano when she was six and began taking voice lessons from then on. She played the flute in band for eight years and also picked up the guitar and drums.
In our exclusive TapSongz interview, we were able to gain an insight on Lane’s latest EP and goals for her future in the music industry. Lane’s first big release is her EP “Expressions.” “It is easily the project that I am most proud of. I’ve recorded a few demos over the years; one for my college submissions and another as a collaborative effort with a friend in college for his senior year production project,” Lane said. We encourage all of our viewers to give “Expression” a listen, which can be found on SoundCloud and iTunes! Our team’s personal favorites from the EP include “Aftershocks” and “Crime Scene”. Lane’s soulful singing combined with piano is very similar to Alicia Keys.
It is clear that Lane would not be where she is today without the Berklee College of Music. “I think the school has mostly trained me to work harder each day to become a better musician. I also believe that the relationships I made while at Berklee were priceless,” Lane said. “The Berklee alumni and network is extremely invaluable and I’ve met so many talented people even after my time spent there that have contributed to my growth as a musician and person in many ways,” Lane added. The Berklee College of Music is located in Boston, Massachusetts and has a great reputation for students interested in music.
While Lane has only released one EP so far in her career, she has enjoyed singing every step of the way and looks forward to writing music in the future. “One of the coolest people that I have met so far in my career is John Legend. I was at his 4th of July party a couple of years ago and he is the most humble and down to earth person I’ve met,” Lane said. Ever since she began writing her own music at the age of 16, Lane has feel in love with writing and performing for her fans. “Feeling the energy I get from my fans in the audience is easily my favorite part. It’s so cool seeing your lyrics getting sung along while you’re singing them,” Lane said.
In the future, Lane wants to travel the world touring and is looking to start her own charity organization, which is currently underway. Be sure to check out Marga Lane’s Twitter and Facebook to keep up-to-date with her latest projects and new releases!
