Here at TapSongz, we have had the great opportunity to connect with artists from many different genres to share their stories and give our viewers an insight on their latest projects! We hope you have enjoyed our write-ups as we continue to grow as a major media outlet in the music industry.
This week we had the privilege to interview Poldoore, a talented artist who was born and grew up in Leuven, Belgium. Combining R&B/Soul, funk and jazz, Poldoore has created a unique sound that has become very popular. His music is often compared to the likes of Mr. Scruff, Aim, and early Gramatik as well as Pretty Lights. Growing up, Poldoore had a strong interest in music and played the piano when he was only nine years old. “I got tired of playing other people’s songs and wanted to create my own music, which I began doing a couple of years later,” Poldoore said. He listened to a variety of music, but there was one artist in particular who was very influential on his youth. “I was a huge Michael Jackson fan when I was growing up. My parents used to put on Thriller practically every week, so those were the first bits I knew by heart, even at an early age,” Poldoore told our TapSongz Team.
The young artist has already released a variety of projects so far in his career, including a couple of free EP’s, many remixes and several free singles. Poldoore released his debut EP called L.A.X. on Cold Busted roughly three years ago. He recently released a full album “The Day Off” in February of 2014, which was well received by his fans. Our team’s favorite songs from the project include “Nothing to Say”, “Call it a Day”, and “Morning Glory”. Poldoore has also released a handful of mixtapes due to his love for DJing and producing.
While Poldoore has put countless hours into his music, it is all worth it in the end. “My favorite part is testing out new tunes I made and meeting new people. Getting positive feedback from the crowd is very motivational and satisfying after all of the hard work you’ve put into those tracks,” Poldoore said. “I love performing anywhere in France and Greece is really cool too. It’s good to see that the whole trip-hop/hip-hop scene is so tight over there,” he added. This past month, Poldoore had the opportunity to meet Pretty Lights in Paris, which was a cool experience for the up and coming artist. “He’s one of my favorite producers at the moment and it was a privilege to talk to him. It’s good to see that there are musicians that stay down-to-earth and humble, no matter how big they are musically,” Poldoore said.
In the future, Poldoore hopes to travel the world more to meet new people, mentioning the United States, South Africa and Australia as destinations that he would like perform in. We encourage all of our viewers to check out Poldoore on his social media platforms listed below to keep up with his latest releases! There is no doubt that the young, talented artist has a long career ahead of him and it won’t be the last time you hear about his music. Here at TapSongz, we thank you for reading this feature article as we continue finding tomorrow’s greatest music today!
