It's crazy to believe that 20 years have passed. Hits have become classics, artists have come and gone, yet Rhymesayers continues to flourish in the constantly changing Hip-Hop industry. Over the past 20 years, Rhymesayers Entertainment has boasted one of independent Hip-Hop's strongest and most talented lineups in the industry. With a roster including Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Prof and Aesop Rock, there is no doubt what that kind of talent has done for Minneapolis and the Midwest.
Atmosphere, pictured above, has been a driving force in building up the music scene in Minnesota and influencing Hip-Hop around the country. The group out of Minneapolis has been instrumental in making SoundSet Music Festival a tradition for Hip-Hop fans. This past May, 30,000 music festival goers packed the fields of Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN for the one day Hip-Hop festival. Next year's SoundSet will be held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and rumors have it that the festival may become multiple days. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Rhymesayers Entertainment, there will be a special event on December 4 held at the Target Center featuring various acts from the independent label.
