It was the very first year Ship Show put on a Hip-Hop festival. Boy did it draw a crowd, not only from California Hip-Hop lovers, but from festival goers throughout the country. The lines stacked up early on Saturday to get onto the USS Hornet in Alameda. Our TapSongz Team got to the festival not knowing what to expect, but the event turned out to be spectacular.
The all Hip-Hop festival was refreshing. There are not many true Hip-Hop festivals around any more as so many events have diversified to include EDM and Alternative acts. It had a similar vibe to that of SoundSet Music Festival in Minneapolis, which also happened to be this weekend, where the stage is filled with nothing but rappers. On Saturday acts that stood out included Jeremih and YG. Every time you see Jeremih live you reminded at how unbelievable his vocals are. He has had a very successful career over the years releasing his hit "Don't Tell Em" in 2014 and having done several amazing collaborations with 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj and J Cole.

YG also threw down later on in the evening with his hard rap, getting fans riled up to "Who Do You Love". It was the perfect way to set the stage for headliner Wiz Khalifa, who has too many hits to count. Filled with such energy and poise, Wiz was making sure everyone was having an amazing Memorial Weekend, putting everything into his performance.
The fun continued on Sunday as the loaded Hip-Hop lineup raved on with more old-school acts. Mid-evening both Scarface and Wyclef put on awesome performances followed by Lupe Fiasco as the sun began to set. Wu Tang Clan took things home to cap off an amazing weekend. The festival setting on a ship was awesome and definitely a cool experience compared to the normal grass field layout. The first annual Ship Show certainly helped to prove that Hip-Hop is still alive, as both new and old-timers gave it their all on stage.
