The show was nothing short of spectacular. EDM fans packed into The Frequency, a small venue near Capitol Square in downtown Madison, Wisconsin to see Slow Magic perform. The night opened up with Daktyl, an up and coming DJ out of England who has been joining Slow Magic on tour. The second act was Kodak to Graph, a talented DJ from LA who is known for his stellar remix to Slow Magic's "Girls". Around 11:30 Slow Magic hit the stage and brought the room to life for over an hour.
The DJ, who describes himself as an "unknown imaginary friend" came onto stage out of nowhere wrapped in an African-like vest alluding to his mysterious persona. Slow Magic opened the show with "Waited 4 U", a popular track off his brand new album "How To Run Away", which was released at the beginning of September. He immediately captured the heart of the crowd as fans instantly began swaying side-to-side and bobbing their heads to the sweet sound. The chill vibe continued throughout the performance as Slow Magic transitioned into his popular remix of ODESZA's "Say My Name". His mask changed colors while constantly banging on the drums and at one point breaking his stick mid-show. Slow Magic broke into his hit song "Girls" during the middle of the performance, bringing his drum into the middle of the crowd and banging away. Despite the small venue, Slow Magic brought the crowd to life with his spectacular display of lights and drums. Between songs, he would put his hands up creating a heart, a popular symbol that Slow Magic shows not only for music, but for his fans.
Slow Magic's mysterious identity and unique sound created a performance unlike any other. His live drums combined with unconventional electronic beats proved why the EDM industry is currently flourishing. There's no doubt that his popularity will only grow as he continues his tour across the U.S. The sky is the limit for our masked imaginary friend.
