Our TapSongz Team loves finding new artists to interview and highlight. So many musicians are working hard and deserve the spotlight for their hard work. We recently came across Tony Burton, a tremendous rising artist with a lot of potential. Burton focuses on folk punk and acoustic rock. We were able to interview the rising artist to learn more about his latest album and plans for the new year!
Burton is originally from Kokomo, Indiana and loved music at a young age. "When I was 13 I joined band to plax the sax and after a year I got my first guitar. I always knew I wanted to pursue music," he told our TapSongz Team. Growing up, Tony had plenty of influences including Bad Religion, NoFX, Avenged Sevenfold, AC/DC, and Dave Matthews. Fast forward to today and Burton has utilized these influences as motivation and put his passion to work.
Burton recently released a brand new album titled "Broken Bottles and Wasted Cigarettes". "I came up for the idea when I was stationed in Osan Air Base in South Korea. I wrote a song for my late cousin who I missed and I sat back and looked at my desk. It was filled with empty beer bottles and half smoked cigarettes," Burton told our TapSongz Team. Tony didn't get to working on the project for nearly four years but one song led to the rest of the album turning into nine songs in total.
Our TapSongz Team was a big fan of the album, which featured some amazing guitar, upbeat production and great vocals. "Somethings Gotta Hate" was an outstanding upbeat tune that begins with electric guitar which will surely wake you up. We also loved "Keep Your Profit", which tones things down a bit more easy going acoustic guitar. The raspy vocals fit the guitar and beat so well and we love how versatile Burton is as he has an excellent ability to cater to all sounds and rhythms.
Tony is keeping busy even after releasing his new album at the beginning of the year. "I'm already working on my next project which is tentatively titled 'Speak of the Dead'. Burton can clearly do it all and we absolutely love seeing rising artists continue to pursue their passion. Tony is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, has been all over the world, and is a father of two with a third child on the way. Despite being extremely busy he is still able to find time for music which we absolutely love. Be sure to toss Tony a follow on Twitter and give his music a listen on Reverbnation and Spotify! We can't wait to hear more new music from Burton so be sure to keep your eye out! Here at TapSongz, we thank you for reading this feature article as we continue finding tomorrow's greatest music today!
