While 2020 is off to an unusual start, there are still plenty of artists creating new music and honing their skills. We had the opportunity to interview up and coming artist Tyson Jay Palmer last year and have stayed in touch with the rising musician. Tyson recently released a brand new album "Visions", which took three months to complete, and we wanted to review the album in detail!
The project goes through different phases showing how different actions have impacted Tyson Jay Palmer's life. His brother broke up with his girlfriend which is eluded to in tracks 3 and 4. "The album's recording stage started as new south wales went into lockdown for the coronavirus," Tyson said. A couple of songs are from Tyson's previous albums and all songs were re-recorded. Overall we loved how "Visions" turned out.
Tyson's creativity, songwriting, and rhythm have never disappointed and certainly didn't in his intro track "The Ghost". The song begins with slow and steady guitar before bursting into a mode of energy and screams. The guitar really drives the track home, upbeat and consistent throughout. The intro track was over seven minutes long going from phases of slow and simple and cranking back into fast-paced strums.
Track number two "Red Skies" starts off with Tyson Jay Palmer yelling into the microphone, before electric guitar rips into the background. The metal sound is harsh, but there is also an uplifting softer melody throughout the track, creating a unique set of contradicting sounds. The track is ear-catching no doubt.
"Heartbreak" is the third song in the album and may have the catchiest introduction of the entire project. We loved the almost futuristic sound before the track drums down into a heavy guitar phase.

"This Was Never Meant To Last" starts on another positive note before turning into a dark twist. Tyson begins yelling into the mic with catchy lyrics "Have we reached the end, will I ever see you again." This fourth track probably has our favorite songwriting on the project and was extremely well put together.
"Last Goodbye" is track number five, again starting with a slow mini introduction, a common theme throughout the album.
When asked what his favorite track is in the project Tyson said "Blood From the Stone". Our TapSongz Team also loved track number six and thought it perfectly displayed Tyson Jay Palmer's full potential as an artist. "Eyes So Sublime" was also an extremely catchy song in the album. The vocal melody is a perfect match for Tyson to display his vocal range and we loved his complimentary vocals to the fast-paced production.
Our TapSongz Team also loved track number 11 "Vivid Dreams", a title that goes so well with the project name "Visions." What we particularly love about the project is that by the second half of the album we weren't exhausted at all and were eagerly waiting for the next song to begin. Tyson Jay Palmer's ability to hold an audience's attention throughout a full 12-track project is impressive to say the least.
