2018 has finally kicked off and we are excited to hear more fresh music in the new year. One artist we have been following for quite some time is Wryane. The rapper out of San Antonio, Texas, has made strides in the Hip-Hop industry and we were excited to see he released more new music! We set up an interview with Wryane to learn more about his plans for the new year.
We were able to catch up with Wryane to learn all about how it began. "I got into rapping when I was 11. I started making goofy, silly raps for my friend and I never intended on taking it seriously," the rapper said. He soon stopped making funny songs when he was 18; he began taking music and rapping more seriously, working hard and practicing his writing and rapping.
One of the cooler things about Wryane is that he produces all of his tracks! "During my junior year of high school, I took an engineering class at a local career and technology center and I eventually earned an engineering certification with Logic Pro 9, which was the DAW system we used during the course," Wryane told our TapSongz Team. Over time, the rapper continued to develop his production and engineering skills and we are impressed with his ability to control and produce an entire track.
"I really got into Hip-Hop after being introduced to John Cena and Eminem. I think it's funny that John Cena got me into rap music, but at the time I was fascinated with professional wrestling and I thought it was cool that John Cena was a wrestler and a rapper at the same time." Fast forward to today and Wryane has made so much progress in his rap career. Wryane recently dropped "Before I Depart", a fresh EP that has fans buzzing with excitement. "The project is centered around frustration, pain and anger. I feel like it's my darkest project to date." We love how the project turned out as it highlights adversities and sends across important messages.
Our TapSongz Team loved the track "Thoughts", a track that is very lyrical and has an awesome beat. The tune truly shows Wryane's full potential as a Hip-Hop artist. "It sums everything up by serving as the EP's 'final thoughts", Wryane said. We love how the EP came together. Wryane's last EP "Wryane's Mind EP" was very popular with fans, but also was a much different sound. As Wryane alluded to above, the new EP is much darker and lyrical, rather than straight bangers and party music. But we think that Wryane has come a long way as an artist and the newest project proves to be a more mature EP that we think fans will really enjoy in a different manner.
Outside of the studio Wryane still keeps plenty busy doing the things he enjoys. "As of October 2017, I'm now an active duty U.S. Sailor. I'll be serving shore duty so that means it'll be easier for me to record and produce new music," Wryane said.
The most exciting news? Wryane plans on making a sequel to "Wryane's Mind EP" as his next project which we were pumped to hear. "I plan to revisit the version of myself who mentors me throughout the album. Along with the sequel, I certainly want to create another project with more mainstream appeal. I also would like to make at least one collaboration project with a few independent artists and a signed artist if the opportunity presents itself," Wryane said.
There is definitely plenty of excitement around Wryane's plans for 2018! We can't wait to hear more new tracks and encourage all of our viewers to give Wryane's music a listen on SoundCloud and Spotify! Toss him a follow on Twitter if you haven't already to stay up to date with his new releases!
