21 different acts hit the stage Friday and Saturday night at the 20th annual Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Headliners for the two-day festival included Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Eric Hutchinson, Michael Franti, Panic! At The Disco, Ingrid Michaelson, Ben Harper and Train! The event also featured up and coming artists from around the area including Frankie Lee and Jillian Rae. After two decades of over 230 bands performing at the festival, this year’s lineup did not disappoint.
The streets on the Basilica grounds were filled with concert goers of all ages including many high school and college fans as well as families taking in a beautiful night overlooking the Minneapolis skyline. Vendors packed the streets surrounding the three stages at the event.
Over 12,000 people attended Friday’s concerts and the crowd only got larger for Saturday’s performances which featured Ingrid Michaelson and Train on the Sun Country Airlines Stage and Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite on the PreferredOne Stage. Michaelson’s performance featured her hottest songs “Be OK”, “The Way I Am” and “You and I”. She ended her hour-long performance with her latest hit “Girls Chase Boys” off of her new album “Lights Out”, which was released in April. Ingrid also did a cover of “Rude” by MAGIC!, a song that has become a huge hit in just over a month.

Following Michaelson’s performance, Train hit thee stage for an energetic pop/rock performance. The band played a variety of hits ranging from their early hits “Drops of Jupiter” and “Meet Virginia” to their latest fan-favorites “Drive By”, “50 Ways to Say Goodbye” and “Save Me, San Francisco”. The five-piece band also played songs off of their upcoming album that will be released in September. Lead singer Pat Monahan jumped around stage displaying his strong vocals, while energizing the crowd and even taking selfies with fans in the front row. Train had attended Basilica a couple of years back and was excited to attend this year’s festival as the main headliner.
