Amarante is comprised of two artists, both born and raised in California. Although Josh and Jysi Hewitt began their lives in different cities, a simple meeting through a web-chat began the couple’s eventual bond through marriage and music. Both started off with music at a young age on the keyboard, and Josh expanded to guitar and percussion as well.
“We feel like we have just begun.” explains Josh, even though Amarante has released four albums, two E.P.’s, and a single. Amazingly, the couple masters all the group’s sound at home collaboratively. “The best part for us both is the creation process. Our songs happen on the go, creating on the spot. It’s lots of fun.”
Amarante’s most recent album titled, “Elapsed Euphoria,” hit the music scene within the past year. This group has a pleasant ambiance in their sound that is both relaxing and intriguing. Josh mentions, “We are always learning, trying to advance our sound and think outside the box in terms of music.”
It is clear that the group has a lot of talent between the guitar patterns, vocal harmonies, and smooth beats. Overall, Amarante describes their sound as “folktronic,” which is created by throwing a little technology into the beats of their string and percussion instrumentals. However, when asked about future projects, Josh responded, “We also intend to create songs that are more progressive.”
