She has been named as one of the top artists to watch in 2015. It takes only one song for you to be convinced. Aurora, a talented Singer-Songwriter, is from a little town outside of Bergen called Os in Norway. She grew up listening to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, but never thought music would lead to a career. “I started writing music when I was nine and I didn’t know I could do anything with it before I was discovered by MADE Management when I was 16. Frankly, I’m still quite surprised about everything that has happened,” Aurora said.
While Aurora may have not envisioned an entertainment career, she has been curious about music for as long as she can remember. The young singer hopes to travel more of the world, but can confidently say that New York has been the most exciting place to visit so far. Performing for fans brings out passion and positive vibes that become contagious to listeners. When asked about her favorite part about performing, she had a unique response. “I think it’s the moment after I’m done! It’s like the final applause wakes you up from a dream and you realize what a beautiful moment it is. The audience wanting to give something back and getting to show them how grateful you are,” Aurora told our TapSongz Team.
It is clear that Aurora’s sense of style has shifted since she began songwriting. Her earlier material featured the likes of Dylan and Cohen, while telling stories with an acoustic guitar right by her side. But Aurora acknowledges the shift and thinks it is for the better. “Now the body around my songs has changed a lot, but the soul and heart is still the same. It always will be. The body around it on the other side will keep changing as I chance.”
Heading into the New Year, Aurora wants to keep her goals simple: appreciate every moment of the adventure. Besides traveling and continuing shows, she mentioned they are in the process of making an EP and when finished, they’ll move on to thinking about a full album. With big plans in site and a likely breakout year for the foreign singer, we hope our viewers will keep up with Aurora’s accomplishments moving forward. We closed the interview by asking if anything makes Aurora unique and her response made us laugh. “I really, really, really want a dragon. If anyone ever sees one, please tell it that I’m waiting for it in Norway.”
