Ten years ago, Paul Baümer and Marteen Hoogstraten formed the electronic music duo Bingo Players. Since then, they’ve released numerous chart-toppers, including the hit song Cry (Just A Little), a staple of EDM back in mid-2000s. Over the years, their songs have permeated the American and European EDM scenes.
Unfortunately, at the height of their success in 2013, Paul Baümer lost his battle to cancer. There was an outpouring of support for him on social media by big names in the EDM community such Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Kaskade, Skrillex and Armin Van Buuren.
After Baümer’s death, the other half of the duo, Dutch DJ Hoogstraten, continued to go by the name Bingo Players and has successfully maintained its legacy. To celebrate Bingo Players’ success, the artist is in the midst of a 13-stop 10-year anniversary tour, the proceeds of which will go toward Fuck Cancer, an organization that raises awareness for disease prevention and early detection. Bingo Players has also released Spinnin x Hysteria present 10 Years of Bingo Players, a remix EP containing the artist’s best and most popular songs. The reworks have already been played over 3 million times on Spotify, and its popularity is increasing by the day.
Bingo Players delivered a great, captivating show at the Soundcheck nightclub last night here in Washington, DC. When Hoogstraten came on at 12:30 AM, the crowd was already in full swing. Strangers united in the name of EDM as they came together to dance to the catchy, pulsating music.
Throughout the night, the DJ would tell the audience to raise their hands up, slowly building up the momentum before ultimately dropping a hard beat. The music was fun to dance to and was delivered with ease and obvious expertise. From the first drop of the first song, the audience fully embraced the bass and continued to aggressively bop their bodies to the hard electronic sound.
Hoogstraten looked cool and composed onstage as his adroitly utilized the DJ kit and moved his own body to the sound of the music. The crowd was ecstatic at each of his regular interactions – his performance has consistently been so entertaining that numerous audience members were repeat attendees. Needless to say, they weren’t disappointed.
