Our TapSongz Team loves doing unique interviews with up and coming artists of all genres. Whether it is fresh hip-hop, urban R&B, or a new DJ within the EDM scene, there are too many amazing musicians who are quietly rising to the top. We recently came across the team at Blooming Prejippie and had the chance to interview the duo to learn more about how—and why—they do ALL the things….
Blooming Prejippie is Vox and Bruce and they are out of Detroit. They have been doing music together since 1986, what they have spawned is so much more than the two of them. These two are the songwriters and producers responsible for 5 different musical acts (Bourgeoisie Paper Jam, The Prejippies, Tony Webb, Synthetic Living Organism, and Jezebel) in a variety of genres (funk/rock, experimental, jazz, techno, and house music, respectively). But that’s just the musical side. More recently, they have embraced all that it means to be D.I.Y. rock stars, which has them creating and sharing content with their 15k followers over a variety of social media in the form of a blog (Blooming Prejippie Zine), a YouTube channel (http://bit.ly/youtubesubprejippie ), a podcast (Gab & Jam); all while they run a music publishing company (PMG Cool+Quirky Custom Music) AND a record label (PMG Records). So, to say that these two individuals are “up to something” is an understatement.
The threads that runs through all their enterprises are artistic empowerment and an appreciation of all genres of music. These two fundamentals are apparent in the Facebook groups that they manage. For folks who like to listen to a variety of musical genres, they have a Facebook Group, Funky Happy People (who listen to a variety of musical genres) at http://bit.ly/2NMPCs8. However, for folks make music that falls into a wide variety of genres, they run another Facebook Group called “Be the Next D.I.Y. Rock Star,” where they share strategies, resources, mindset shifts, and growth hacks to help those who are trying to build a creatively prosperous life for themselves. http://bit.ly/diyrockstarjoin
Speaking of growth hacks, Blooming Prejippie is big on trying marketing ideas that no one else is doing, so fresh on the horizon with is a special Record Store Day release (called “Honey-Dipped Acoustic Set” from Bourgeoisie Paper Jam). They sent a special batch of CDs to 25 record stores for a unique way to promote the project. Our Team is a huge fan of Record Store Day and we thought it was a great idea. "The project is about a journey of learning and blooming and becoming, and about looking more positively at the world. In the Spring everything is opening up and becoming green again. The songs have that kind of sunny feeling to them," the duo told our TapSongz Team. This release will soon be available to the general public and on all your favorite streaming platforms. If you want to check out the currently available funk/rock release, we’d suggest heading on “Higher Up. Deeper In.” over at Apple Music (https://music.apple.com/us/album/higher-up-deeper-in/1453143528 ).

The duo has been pushing their production to new heights and they've also been doing a 'song a week challenge,' where they upload one new song a week to SoundCloud. When asked if there is an artist they'd love to work with, the duo said they'd be open to collaborating with anybody. "Whether it is a hip-hop artist or rock or country, we are open to seeing what we can come up with together," Blooming Prejippie said. They are in a constant search for creative inspiration, so engaging with other artistic people can only further enhance their experience.
Blooming Prejippie was such an amazing interview because these two truly knew the history of music and leveraged these influences into their own original work. We encourage all of our viewers to give Blooming Prejippie's music a listen on SoundCloud and iTunes! Toss them a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with their latest releases!
