Here at TapSongz, our team is devoted to finding talented artists who deserve more exposure in the music industry for their hard work and efforts! We have been contacted and reached out to many different artists from a variety of genres. We believe that talented artists should be rewarded for their hard work so our team will continue to post articles on many different artists to give you the inside scoop on what is going on in the music industry!
This week, we had the honor of speaking with Cameron Palatas, an up and coming artist out of Los Angeles. Growing up, Palatas moved around a lot. He was originally born in Los Angeles, but his dad was in the military. He ended up in Kansas City, Missouri for seven years, before settling back in Los Angeles. As a kid, his main influence in the music industry was Eminem. If it wasn’t Eminem, he listened to a lot of J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. In our exclusive TapSongz interview, Palatas was able to give us the details on his music career and current projects in the making.
The main reason our TapSongz team was so impressed with Palatas’ music is because his music style is so unique. When asked which artist his music is most similar to, Palatas had a tough time answering. “I don’t like to compare my music to others, but if I had to I would say J. Cole. The reason I say that is because we both write about real things. I don’t like writing about cars and clothes or how many girls I can get,” Palatas said. So far in his music career, Palatas has released two songs. His first was a remix and music video to Drake’s “Furthest Thing” and the other was a freestyle to Drake’s “Pound Cake.” Both songs are just a small glimpse of the talent that Palatas possesses with his smooth flow and lyrical talent.
Palatas has been hard at work on his new mixtape titled “Lost Values.” The mixtape is really his first big project and caught our team’s eyes in a big way. The title “Lost Values” has a special meaning with Palatas, showing listeners that our generations’ values have become skewed from what they should be. The mixtape can be downloaded on his SoundCloud in the link below so be sure to check it out! Our team's favorite songs from the mixtape include "Timeless" and "Furthest Thing".
Despite working hard on his musical career, Palatas notes that there were always haters along the way. Palatas began writing his own music four years ago, but never really did anything with it at the beginning. “People discouraged me and tried to tell me that I wasn’t good enough, but I would never let that stop me from pursuing a passion of mine,” Palatas recalled. “With practice you only get better. The best aren’t the best right off the bat and if they are, they’re an overnight sensation. I’m here to stay,” he added. It is clear that Palatas’ career is only beginning to take off! Be sure to check out his Facebook and Twitter pages below to keep up with his social media! We encourage all of our viewers to give his new mixtape “Lost Values” a listen! Here at TapSongz, we hope you enjoyed this feature article as we continue finding tomorrow’s greatest music today!
