We recently came across DJ Jason Spinner, a talented progressive house EDM artist with a passion for music. We had the opportunity to interview Jason to learn more about his past, latest releases, and future plans.
Jason is originally from Los Angeles, CA, although he grew up in Detroit, MI. "Growing up during the Detroit techno era, I was always intrigued and fascinated by all different kinds of music, starting at a very young age," the up and coming DJ told our TapSongz Team. He was first exposed to the art of mixing music using vinyl over the radio at the age of eight and never looked back. With the help of a friend, DJ Jason Spinner had the opportunity to learn how to mix utilizing turntables at an after-hours club in Detroit. "I sort of just picked up the skill on my own after learning the basics, and in my early 20's I finally bought my first set of CDJ's," he said. Early on, Jason was heavily influenced by Jeff Mills, since he grew up in the Detroit techno era. "Jeff Mills was a huge influence and really the reason I pursued electronic music in the first place."
DJ Jason Spinner moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in his mid 20's and was exposed to so much electronic music. He began to create mixes and upload to various sites including Mixcloud. About a year and a half ago Jason moved to Tampa Bay, FL, to be closer to family, but enjoyed his 17 years in California. "My latest project is my first single that has ever been professionally released under the umbrella of a record label. It is a trance track called 'Leto' and is currently available for download and streaming worldwide," the EDM artist told our team.
The trance single, through White Lion Audio, has been a big hit on iTunes thus far with trance fans loving the upbeat tune. The song sounds so professional and we loved the constant buildups and hype. Be sure to check out the new single and support the rising artist. Jason looked at various labels and fell in love with White Lion Audio. "They are a record label with a very strong backing of associates and distributors, such as Universal Music. My manager immediately began getting it ready to launch worldwide as well as building a new brand for me as an EDM artist and producer. Becoming a signed artist was a dream come true."
Once DJ Jason Spinner moved to Florida he was able to build his own studio in his home and has put an immense amount of effort into building a track from start to finish. Despite keeping busy with his own music, Jason still loves seeing live music. "My favorite artist I have seen live is a toss up between Ferry Corsten and Armin Van Buuren. Both were spinning vinyl as well as CDJs. I saw both of them at the same venue, the same year and it was my first time seeing either of them live," Spinner recalled.
As for Spinner's own plans, he is focused on the release of his new track and building his fan base. "My merchandise is getting ready to be launched as I am talking to you, so let's see how the next few months go and like I said, a tour is certainly a possibility. My favorite cities to perform in would definitely be my former home in San Francisco and my hometown of Detroit." Spinner will continue to push 'Leto' and work on promotion and branding with the help of his team.
