A collaboration with The Chainsmokers was all it took for Great Good Fine Ok to spring into the spotlight and receive the recognition they deserve. The duo from upstate New York teamed up with the EDM duo for their recent hit song “Let You Go”, which quickly compiled 2.5 million plays in only one month.
Great Good Fine Ok is comprised of Jon Sandler and Luke Moellman. Sandler remembers vividly how the band began. “Luke was living around the corner from me in Brooklyn. After we wrote the first couple songs and decided to form a full band, Luke reached out to friends who we thought would be the best fit,” Sandler said. “Before we ever played a note together, we all went for BBQ and the band was born,” he added.
Moellman studied jazz and composition in school, but taught himself the engineering of music and production on the side. “One piece of advice that I always stick by is: be your own teacher. Learning from others is important, but there’s not substitute for having your own experiences,” Luke told our TapSongz Team.
Great Good Fine Ok has released a handful of singles in the past couple of months including a collaboration with St. Lucia in their track “Something To Believe In”. But it was their single with The Chainsmokers that really showed electro-pop fans their true potential. “They reached out to us to co-write/sing on the track and being huge fans of theirs, we were honored. The lyrics mean a lot to me so I just hope people connect with it and it brings people joy,” Jon said.
The popular electro-pop duo continues to constantly write songs and releasing new music is always their goal. While their music is starting to climb the charts, they both agree that they have been doing the same thing production-wise for a while. “We have kept most of the same elements from the beginning. Things might be getting a little funkier,” they both agreed. During the rest of the year be sure to look out for Great Good Fine Ok on tour as well as more new music!
