This week our TapSongz Team had the opportunity to interview Young Scrap, an up and coming rapper out of Los Angeles, California. We were able to gain an insight on the artist’s interesting career and where he plans to take his talents in the future.
Growing up, Young Scrap’s parents did A&R for a group called “Ideal”. He had told them that he wanted to be a rapper at a very young age. “I started off singing song by song with friends. I became homeless at one point and needed things to change,” Young Scrap said. His career really started to form when he released his ridiculous mixtape series. It received crazy numbers and obtained a couple of big features and producers, which really helped the young rapper turn big.
Young Scrap released his first single “Watch Me Work” which was a full-blown R&B tune. While the song became an instant hit with his fans, he did not have the funds to push the song to full potential. “No Love” was his next release, which quickly garnered over 3.3 million YouTube views!
In recent months, Young Scrap has put in plenty of time and hard work to make sure his latest content is top notch. He released “Love L.A.” which was produced by DJ Mustard and has become a big hit! “I’ve been working with a variety of great producers and am really focusing on my tour in California,” Young Scrap told our team. “Coachella is my goal for the future. Being from L.A. that concert is awesome,” he added.
In the future, Young Scrap is looking to continue to build his following. He hopes to find more mainstream exposure, while still remaining independent. “I’m hoping to build my brand from California and work out from there,” Young Scrap said. In the next couple of months, he would also love to do a remix to “Love L.A.” with all of the hot Los Angeles artists including TiiFly, YG, DJ Mustard and others.
When he’s not in the studio creating music, Young Scrap loves designing shoes. He actually recently did a shoe collaboration with Heyday Footwear. “It was my first shoe I’ve ever designed with a company, but it was a dope project. I got to customize the design, color and everything,” Young Scrap said. Be on the lookout for Young Scrap’s new releases on his SoundCloud and iTunes! We encourage all of our viewers to follow him on social media in the links below to stay up-to-date with the young singer. Here at TapSongz, we hope you have enjoyed this feature article as we continue finding tomorrow’s greatest music today!
