MisterWives played for a sold out crowd at U Street Music Hall in Washington DC on March 28th as part of their almost-entirely sold out “Our Own House” tour. They are performing at U Street again on April 10th. Joining them on tour are Borns and Handsome Ghosts.
Despite performing as headliners for the first time, the MisterWives’ performance was exciting and enthralling. It was very clear that the band members really enjoyed singing and each other. Every member was extremely talented – they played a variety of instruments (including a glockenspiel!) and it was always flawless. Their versatility as musicians and energy as performers made for a uniquely enjoyable show.
Although the casual listener recognized at most three or four songs from the 90-minute set, the band kept things exciting with creative interludes. Lead singer Macy showed off her incredible voice when she sang back melodies played by sit-in saxophonist Mike Murphy.
MisterWives played hits off of their “Our Own House” including single “Reflections”, Hurricane” and “No Need For Dreaming”, as well as the title track.
Their encore presentation was tremendous. It began with a house-music breakdown featuring an electronic cover of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” that got the entire room dancing.
Look out for MisterWives on the rest of their tour from now until April 10th and check out their website and recently released full length album!
