Steve Hayes, who goes by the artist name Nine + Nine, is on a roll. Originally from Long Island, New York, Hayes has had an interest in music for quite some time. "I have been a musician my whole life. I played violin, viola, cello, clarinet and sax through grade school. As well as sang in chorus. I started playing guitar later on at 15," Nine + Nine told our TapSongz Team. He has a wide array of talents, that is definitely displayed in each track he makes. The cool thing about Nine + Nine is he is constantly changing his music and his sound is always evolving. There are no definitive rules to his sound.
Nine + Nine was previously in a metal band, playing guitar for Guernica from 2000 to 2007. He played in over 500 shows and toured the U.S. during that timespan. "I have always had a metal influence. I am loving the metal band 'The Amity Affliction' from Australia. I love the alternative rock band MuteMath from Louisiana, which in my opinion one of the greatest shows I have seen," Nine + Nine said.
Fast forward to today and Nine + Nine has created an extremely unique sound, blending several genres, focused primarily around EDM. He has developed an electronic sound that is distinct and separates himself from the rest of the industry. We had featured Nine + Nine on our blog about a week or two ago, but he has kept busy even since then. Nine + Nine recently dropped a brand new single "Easy", which is posted below and can also be found on SoundCloud. "I am sure many people today can relate to that song. When they know the path towards a certain goal is a straight line but life gets in the way. Hence 'let it be eassssy'. Or maybe they can understand when certain people in ones life want you to be something that you can't. It's a frustrating place to be," Nine + Nine told our TapSongz Team. We absolutely love how the track turned out and believe it is the rising artist's best work yet.
The new single has already opened new doors for Nine + Nine, with a UK label hearing the track and immediately contacting him about potentially teaming up. Another label is impressed with the track and looking to branch out into the electronic music division of their company. Nine + Nine is excited regarding the opportunities as his music continues to develop. Plenty of doors will be opening for Nine + Nine as he looks to further produce quality tracks and build up his fan base.
While Nine + Nine likes the EDM industry, he also wants to change it. "I want it to be more musical then just DJs and big speakers. I want more live vocals and instruments. More musicians instead of just pushing buttons. I will bring a high energy performance playing guitar and piano. I like Kygo in that regard and have a lot of respect for him. He is a fantastic musician,"Nine + Nine said. The EDM industry is without a doubt shifting and combing all sorts of genres, which is exactly why Nine +Nine will only become more of a big name as time progresses. His cross of alternative rock with dance beats has been a hit so far and his audience will only grow.
