We are midway through 2019 and there have been plenty of breakout artists and amazing new music that has emerged onto the scene. We recently came across a talented up and coming artist by the name of Opi Louisa and had the opportunity to dig into her music and learn more about her career and goals.
Opi is originally from Sydney, Australia, and grew up in Byron Bay N.S.W. She had a love for music at an early age. "I first started singing when I was five, that's when I knew I really loved it," Louisa told our TapSongz Team. She also had plenty of inspirations growing up. "My favorite artists growing up were Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, and Whitney Houston to name a few," she said. Opi even remembers seen Lauryn Hill for the first time and how incredible of a concert it was noting how amazing the live show was.
Fast forward to today and Opi continues to pursue her passion and loves every bit of creating unique original music. "My latest project is a few songs with my friend and talented producer Zde Koesdjono. It is a collaboration oof just genuine creativity and a lot of R&B music. It is influential of early '90's R&B," Opi said. Our TapSongz Team was able to give Opi's project a listen and we loved what we heard.
As for the rest of 2019, Opi doesn't have any plans quite yet to tour, but hopefully can look to begin doing so in the near future. "My plans are releasing the songs currently out and working on making new songs! I have some new creative ideas for a new album in 2020," Louisa said. We love the idea of a brand new album in 2020 and can't wait to hear more new music from the talented musician! During her free time, Opi also loves to make handmade soap and beauty products as well as braiding hair.
