While 2020 has been off to a crazy start, many artists continue to push through with expressing their own thoughts and ideas via new music. Bands, DJ's, and rappers alike are helping fans stay sane and stay positive during a difficult period of time. One such artist we recently came across is Snazz, a talented up and coming rapper who has a unique sound. Our TapSongz Team had the opportunity to interview Snazz to learn more about his past, recent releases, and plans for the future.
"I'm from a small town most people haven't heard of called Orange, Texas. It's right by Louisiana with lots of snakes, bugs, and water, and is very hot and humid," Snazz said. It was clear that Snazz had a passion for music at an early age. "I started in middle school writing poetry, but gave it up after I had the real world to deal with," he added. But Snazz picked up rapping again at the end of 2019 as music has become a therapy for him to cope through difficult situations. "Shout out to T.R.U.T.H. for teaching me that," the rapper said. "I'm Snazz, it's a symbol to me that you can't always pick your life and sometimes you have to accept it."
We love Snazz's message and artist name, proving his creativity and uniqueness. Growing up the rapper wasn't short of any influences. "As a kid I listened to a lot of MCR, Linkin Park, Everclear, and Drop Kick Murphys. Lil Wayne is who really turned me on to rap though. I had a friend in my hometown that would play him all of the time and I caught on to the metaphors," Snazz said. The rapper has been able to turn these influences into something real releasing fresh new music in 2020 for his fans. "My latest project was the release of Ten Drills. When I started taking rap seriously I had this mindset to do Ten practice runs a day. It's why all of the songs on the album are so different from each other." Our TapSongz Team particularly loved Snazz's track "The Heart". The tune has outstanding lyrics going deep and Snazz's rapping was a perfect match for the simple, light melody. We also loved "Wreckless" which had an amazing intro. The slow moving introduction grabs the listener's attention before Snazz goes hard into the beat.
As for the future Snazz is excited to see what is next. "I haven't toured yet, but when I do I want to hit up Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, and maybe El Paso. I love Dallas." The rising rapper is already keeping busy and working on his next project which we can't wait to hear! "My next album 'Into The Snake Pit' will be going over a few more personal sides of my life. The problems I've faced and hopefully the problems others face too. Maybe I can help some people not make the same mistakes I did," Snazz said.
