The Minnesota State Fairgrounds got crowded early at 11:00am on Sunday May 27th for an amazing day filled with hip-hop and rap music. Thousands of concert goers were dressed prepared for a perfect sunny summer day ready to jam out.
The 10-hour festival did not disappoint these concert goers as the killer lineup gave fans a little taste of everything. The 2018 festival lineup was packed full of amazing artists, making every festival goer crowding around the main stage.
A Boogie wit da Hoodie took main stage at 3:10pm, getting the crowd active in the afternoon. Of course, he took stage starting in a Givenchy sweatshirt until the heat kicked in. He got the crowd singing to all of his bangers including “My Sh*t”, “Say A’”, “Still Think About You” and “Pills & Automobiles”. A Boogie wit da Hoodie had a great stage presence dancing around and was loving every second with the Minneapolis crowd. The artist made sure to close out his performance with the crowd-pleasing song of “Drowning”. This heater of a song got the crowd pumped up and well prepared for the next performance in Russ.
Russ has taken 2018 by storm, releasing seven singles and drawing attention with his unique beats and style of rapping. He has a great Soundcloud following and his appearance at Soundset showed how large of a fan base he truly has. Russ did an amazing job getting the crowd hyped with his hits “What They Want” and “Do It Myself”, and then putting everyone in their emotional feels with “Ride Slow” and “Psycho, Pt. 2”.

Next up was Tyler the Creator taking the stage with authority at 6:30pm. The big-time rapper put on the show of a lifetime not only with his vocal cords, but with his amazing dance moves. Tyler the Creator sang all of his hit songs including “DEATHCAMP”, “Who Dat Boy” and “IFHY”. The crowd was rowdy and loving every moment of the performance.
Showing up fashionably late was no other than Migos. The group came out with a bang playing “Superstars” and then quickly transitioned to “Open It Up”. The group chanting “Open It Up” making the crowd form small circles within the mosh pit, allowing people to show off their moves. It wouldn’t have been a true Migos show without hearing the classic “Bad and Boujie”. Migos had the crowd cooking like a “Stir Fry” with fireworks and confetti spraying into the air.
The night turned to Logic to close out the day. This artist had performed as a smaller act at Soundset back in 2015, and now he was shutting down the festival. Logic showed off his ability to spit rhymes faster than anyone, not even the fans could keep up. He had an iconic moment playing “1-800-273-8255” with thousands of fans phone lights in the air. It was a very meaningful and special experience for everyone as this artist performed his top hit. Logic kept composure playing such a heartfelt song, and managed to transition later to his pump-up song “Everyday”.
