Two massive stages filled Addams/Medill Park just south of the Chicago loop. EDM was back in the windy city and festival-goers had few complaints. Spring Awakening was everything EDM fans could ask for with a heavy three day lineup filled with big-time headliners. The sixth annual Spring Awakening was hosted in the park for the second straight year, after previously being held at Soldier Field Stadium.
Friday featured plenty of depth with popular acts Vanic and Louis The Child taking the stage early as fans packed into the park on a beautiful afternoon. The evening was closed out with Marshmello throwing down and Galantis putting on a stunning show. The duo has performed in Chicago a couple of times, including an outstanding act two summers ago at Lollapalooza. Galantis played their hits "Peanut Butter Jelly" and "No Money" and closed their outstanding act with "Runaway".
Fans arrived to the park early on Saturday to see rising star Alan Walker perform in the heat. Walker's show was phenomenal as fans were eager to hear "Faded", a track that has blown up over the past year accruing over 1.1 billion plays on YouTube. Chicago-native duo Krewella pleased fans by playing old-time favorites including "Alive" as well as some new material off of their brand new EP! The night lineup featured plenty of talent as ZHU and Diplo both took the night away. Saturday was definitely a highlight at the festival selling out with 35,000 festival-goers packing into the park.

The final day continued the momentum as the park filled up yet once again. With temperatures in the mid-80's, fans lucked out with some of the best weather they could ask for. Duke Dumont and JAUZ both threw amazing shows before Alesso, Griz and Martin Garrix finished off the weekend. Alesso played all of his hit tracks including "Cool" and "Heroes" as well as an awesome remix to The Chainsmokers and Coldplay's "Something Just Like This". Martin Garrix may have been one of the top shows of the weekend with plenty of drops, bass, fire and confetti. Garrix performed an awesome "Love Lockdown" Remix as well as Remixing Galantis' "Runaway" and Daft Punk's "One More Time". Garrix of course performed his famous single "Animals" as well as his new hit "Scared To Be Lonely". The festival was a success without a doubt and there are few EDM festivals throughout the country that can compare, as it has grown to be a hub within the Midwest for festival-goers. Be sure to keep an eye out on social media for early hints at next year's lineup!
