It is truly amazing to think that Summer Set Music Festival, located in Somerset, Wisconsin, is only in its third year of rocking the hilly fields with EDM, Rock and Hip-Hop acts. The town which consists of only a couple of thousand people at most was electrified for 3 days as thousands of music lovers hauled into festival grounds for a camping marathon to see their favorite artists perform.
With an average of 18,000 people packing into the festival each day, there was not a dull moment all weekend. Our TapSongz Team had the opportunity to cover the event and see what concert goers across the midwest have been raving about.
The festival really brought a little bit of everything, from crazy outfits to carnival themed rides. Headliners for this year's event included Kaskade, Big Gigantic, Flux Pavilion, Bassnectar, Schoolboy Q, and Tyler the Creator among others.
An up and coming rock band by the name of Passafire helped get the crowd rocking early Saturday afternoon at the Grove Stage tucked back behind the hills through a wood chip path. Immediately after their performance, Cherub busted onstage with their usual flawless vocals and unique style. The band played their hits including "Dear Body" and "Monogomy" before closing the set with their most popular tune "Doses and Mimosas". Pictured below is Cherub's lead-singer Jordan Kelley during the performance this past Saturday.

EDM fans had no problem finding an entertaining performance as all three days featured Trap, Dance and House music's heavy hitters. RL Grime, Luminox and Kaskade threw down on Friday night to open the first day of the festival. Saturday included the likes of Autograf, The Chainsmokers and Caked Up. All three acts were outstanding in their respective fashion.
Near the end of Saturday the rowdiness continued with two strong acts from Flux Pavilion and Big Gigantic. Flux Pavilion's dubstep style became a fan favorite, playing his ever-so-popular "I Can't Stop" in the middle of the show and ending his set with "Gold Dust". Pictured above is Flux Pavilion's stage on Saturday night. Big Gigantic hit the Main Stage after to close off the night featuring electrifying saxophone, pounding drums, and even bringing Cherub out onto the stage for a song.
If you were attending Summer Set in hopes of catching a hip-hop set or two you were definitely in luck. The festival featured a vast array of up and coming rappers as well as established stars including Isaiah Rashad, Schoolboy Q, Aer, Tyler the Creator and Wu Tang. Schoolboy Q (pictured above) threw a banger on the Main Stage, hyping fans with some of his latest hits from his new album "Oxymoron". His sound quality was impressive and performed his hits "Studio" and "Man of the Year" to perfection.
Overall our TapSongz Team had a blast covering Summer Set Music Festival this year in Wisconsin. The event is one of the largest growing festivals in the region and we hope to attend for years to come. The bass-pounding performances have left us excited to see who will be headlining next year!
