Here at TapSongz, our team is devoted to finding talented artists who deserve more exposure in the music industry for their hard work and efforts! We have been contacted and reached out to many different artists from a variety of genres. We believe that talented artists should be rewarded for their hard work so our team will continue to post articles on many different artists to give you the inside scoop on what is going on in the music
Our newest feature article pertains to aspiring hip-hop artist Teammate Markus. Based in Mesa, Arizona, Markus has high hopes that he will one day be mentioned with hip-hops elite. His first taste of rap music came from Lil’ Bow Wow, stating, “Seeing a kid who was around my age group being successful as a rap artist was absolutely mind-blowing to me”. Bow Wow gave Markus the necessary motivation for him to start pursuing a career in rap. Other rap influences for Markus include, 50 Cent, Nelly, Chamillionaire, and Eminem. However, perhaps his greatest influence comes from current rap superstar, Mac Miller. Markus also believes that his music closely resembles that of Miller, and many of his listeners agree. In our exclusive interview, Markus stated, “Mac Miller is a huge influence on me. I think a lot of it has to do with race, but that is the one comparison I hear more than any other.” Many listeners also believe that Markus has a similar flow to Dizzy Wright, which Markus takes as a massive compliment.
Teammate Markus has released many music projects in his short career. His first mixtape, however, was not work that he was necessarily proud of. “The first mixtape I ever released was in my junior year of high school, and it was terrible to say the least. I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know who I was as an artist and I certainly hadn’t found my sound,” Markus said. Few artist are able to effectively critique their own work, and very few are able to admit that some of their work was substandard. Ever since his first mixtape, Markus has continually made progress in creating a more professional, and unique sound. He recently released “And That’s Real”, a mixtape that he is incredibly happy with. Markus has a passion for creating films, as he studies this topic at Arizona State University. His newest music video entitled “Hands Down” has been met with success, which proves to Markus that he has what it takes to make quality music and videos. “The strides I’ve made as an artist in the last 2 years is something I will always be proud of,” Markus said. Markus has also been fortunate enough to meet one of TapSongz’s favorite rappers in Futuristic, who has hosted numerous “Prove It” events that Markus has performed in. Be sure to check out Teammate Markus’ social media outlets to stay up-to-date with his new music.
Teammate Markus has already accomplished a multitude of things in his career, but he also has goals that he hopes to meet, or even surpass, in the future. “Long term, I want to considered among the top tier artists in my state, and have the opportunity to tour once I am done with school. I want to be able to live off of my passion as a rap artist, even if I’m not filthy rich, or even comfortable financially; I want to live off of my music,” Markus told our TapSongz Team. The passion for music that Markus possesses is what separates good artists from truly great ones. There is absolutely no reason that Teammate Markus can’t establish himself as one of the top rap artists in Arizona, and if he still continues to push himself, he can become one the top rap artists in the country. We hope you enjoyed this TapSongz feature article, as we continue finding tomorrow’s greatest music today!
