Our TapSongz Team continues to find quality new music as we gear up to head into 2019. We recently came across talented up and coming artist Tyson and had the opportunity to interview him to learn more about his recent projects!
Tyson comes from Augusta, Georgia, where he noted having challenges growing up being black and living in the south. He had a passion for music at a very young age. "I first began music by writing poetry. In 6th grade I started having problems with kids and bullying and used music to vent those feelings out," Tyson told our TapSongz Team. The rising artist has several key inspirations including Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Aaliyah and many other great acts in the business. "I don't know if it's my usual habit of rooting for the under dogs, but I usually listen more to women than men in music."
On October 5th Tyson dropped his mixtape "Revision Vol. 1" as well as his EP "Revision, Vol 1: The EP". Both had been under construction for a while and was awesome to see the projects come to fruition. "The idea of the EP came along the way about 4-5 months ago. I was fishing for some beats on a hunch and thought why not do a double release. So I started writing and writing and recording and I just kind of sat on the records," Tyson said. He found a surge of energy in September to finish up the projects and even did the mixing himself.
So far, Tyson is satisfied with his following and progress. "I feel like 2018 was the year for me to get my feet wet and I feel like I've done that," he told our TapSongz Team. He notes the shift in hip-hop to the popular "mumble rap" has taken away true meanings, rhymes, writing and creativity from the ever so popular genre. Tyson also acknowledges the ways technology has advanced the music business in good and bad ways. He notes how technology has helped to get creators like himself the opportunity to release content including platforms like SoundCloud, YouTube, and DistroKid.
As for the future, Tyson ended the interview with some exciting news. "I want to leave you all with this. Season 2 of #TysonsCorner is coming soon. Revision Vol. 2 is on the way!". We can't wait to see what Tyson is able to accomplish next and are excited to follow his journey. With new projects on the way it is an exciting time for the up and coming rapper. Be sure to give his music a listen on SoundCloud and toss him a follow on social media to stay up to date with his latest releases. Here at TapSongz, we thank you for reading this feature article as we continue finding tomorrow's greatest music today!
