It's that time of summer where everyone circles around the bonfire and country is played on repeat. Chicago festival goers have been spoiled so far this summer with so many different events and concerts thus far. Windy City Smokeout should be added to the list as another must-go event. The country festival took place this past weekend around the River West area as fans packed in to witness some amazing country and take down some BBQ.
Friday was kicked off with an amazing headliner show from Brett Young. Saturday was filled with plenty of food as fans tried out various pork sandwiches, BBQ, pretzels, sausage, ice cream and more. Performances throughout the day included Ashley McBryde and Aaron Lewis before the evening was wrapped up with Brett Eldridge.

The festival concluded on Sunday with some amazing acts early in the day from Walker Hayes and Kane Brown. Brown was a hit for fans who played his big tracks "Heaven" and "What Ifs". Scattered rain formed for only 20 minutes before the skies cleared up again as Brown finished his set. The energy at the show was contagious as country fans were thrilled to see one of the industry's top up and coming artists.
The Turnpike Troubadours took the stage next, giving the day a different vibe that so many appreciated. The band played for over an hour, with violin violently being struck as the group jammed out to "Long Hot Summer Days" and "7 and 7". The crowd finally became anxious for the closing act of the festival, Brothers Osborne. The group had performed in Chicago last year at Lakeshake Festival and is always such an amazing experience live. Brothers Osborne played all of their classics to end the weekending including upbeat hit "It Ain't My Fault" and slower tempo tune "Stay a Little Longer".
Country fans left pleased after the full weekend of live music and incredible food. It is clear not a single fan left hungry. We were impressed with the affordable prices at the festival for such great food and a large selection of beer and beverages, far different from many other festivals with few options and overpriced items. Windy City has remained a classic and staple event in Chicago that country fans can look forward to each year, whether their favorite artist is coming or they miss that fresh pulled pork sandwich so dearly. See you all there next year!
