Our newest feature article revolves around aspiring hip-hop artist Young Check’a. Born and raised in the south suburbs of Illinois, Check’a hopes to bring a style and sound to the rap industry. He has been rapping since the young age of eleven years old, and has since attempted to establish himself within the rap community. Young Check’a draws influence from some of raps current superstars, stating, “Some of the main artists that I look up to are J. Cole, Childish Gambino, and Drake.” He draws parallels between his music and Childish Gambino’s, as Check’a believes that his sound resembles the current rap phenom.
Check’a has been hard at work perfecting his craft, as he has released a multitude of new work in the recent months. “My latest mixtape ‘Check Me Out’ has been released on Datpiff.com, but I also have a single called ‘Mechanical Dummy’ and an album called ‘Dragon Slayer’, both of which are on iTunes,” Check’a told our TapSongz Team. Young Check’a has very high aspirations that he believes he can meet. “I always want to go higher from where I am, so for right now I want to go on tour, be on TV shows, and receive awards for my music,” Check’a said. There is no reason that Check’a will be unsuccessful in attaining these lofty goals, as he possesses the necessary passion for music that will allow him to strive in the future. “My favorite part of being a rapper is that it challenges me to express myself in ways I never thought possible, and even though I take my career seriously, I also have fun doing it with me and my friends as well. We love what we do,” Check’a told our team. Check’a also mentioned that he has an independent record label “True Skills Entertainment”, which features artists such as Kid Cobra, Larro Da Great, Nadia Valencia, and Camazotti. The label was born in 2013 and they hope to allow for it to grow in the near future.
