Artists continue to press forward with new releases, pleasing fans of all genres throughout a difficult 2020. Bands, artists, DJ's, and rappers have all released fantastic new music when fans have needed it most. One such artist our TapSongz Team recently came across is Zenas. We fell in love with his sound and had the opportunity to interview the rising artist!
Zenas is from Cleveland, Ohio, where he grew up. "I first began pursuing a music career in January 2012, when I opened up for Afroman at a venue called Peabody's in downtown Cleveland. My artist name is Zenas, and is pronounced Zih'nahz," he told our TapSongz Team. Zenas had plenty of inspirations growing up. "My favorite artists growing up were definitely The Eagles, Michael Jackson, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Green Day, and Fleetwood Mac, among many others," he said.
Fast forward to today and Zenas has used those inspirations to release his own music and build a fan base of his own. "The latest project I've released is 'I remember The Times' and the 'Dragged N' Chopped' remix. It all came together when I reached out to my producer for a beat and I purchased it," he said. Our TapSongz Team loved the original. The beat is exceptional and fits so smoothly with Zenas' rapping abilities. Zenas is able to display his full potential on the track and it immediately had us asking for more.
"Afterwards I liked the track so much I reached out to my producer again, who is a DJ, to remix it in the 'Dragged N Chopped' style," Zenas told our TapSongz Team. We loved the remix as well, being more upbeat and electronic, but still meshing so well with the hip-hop vibes created by Zenas. Remixes on popular tracks is always fun to listen to and we love what Zenas and his DJ were able to do with "I Remember The Times".
"My goals for the second half of 2020 are to get signed by a major label like Def Jam, Universal, Sony, or Warner. I'm definitely promoting my two newest singles 'I Remember The Times' and 'Magazine'," he said. Our TapSongz Team really enjoyed Zenas' unique sound and smooth voice with a strong hip-hop flare.
