It sounds like Katie Crutchfield is still keeping it simple on her second album with a full band. While Crutchfield is technically just the singer of Waxahatchee, it is actually her project. But, the touring band provides just the right amount of electricity to maintain the rawness and authenticity we have grown to love from Crutchfield. Lamar aggressively raps about the issues of racism and inequality over 78 minutes of obvious Funkadelic-inspired beats (the first track even features George Clinton). The album has an impressive list of guest musicians including Thundercat and Snoop Dogg.
