Los Angeles-based band The Mowgli’s is gearing up for a sold out show at Rock & Roll Hotel DC this Saturday, their first trip back to the DMV since their incredible set at 9:30 Club last fall.
The band has set out on tour to promote their third studio album, “Where’d Your Weekend Go?”, released last Friday. These new songs should be as powerful and heartfelt as any other by The Mowgli’s; the band describes this album as, “the truest representation of who we are…the most honest thing we’ve ever done.” The album’s leading single, Bad Thing, has already been marked as a success, both in terms of journalistic criticism and digital download. A stripped down sneak preview of “Spacin Out” ambushed already impressed fans and can be found here.
The indie-rock sextet – featuring Katie Jayne Earl (vocals, percussion); Josh Hogan (guitar, vocals); Colin Dieden (vocals, guitar); David Appelbaum (keyboards); Matthew Di Panni (bass); and Andy Warren (drums) – originated when a few members met in high school and has since come to embody and promote messages of love and positivity.
Their first two albums each boast a few top hits as well as numerous solid tracks that have become staples on alternative, indie and rock playlists – at bars, on Spotify, on that old-fashioned technology known as “the radio”. Any space in which these songs are played immediately lights up.
Fans can expect to hear a loving balance of new songs and old hits - tracks from album #2, “Kids In Love” including I’m Good, Shake Me Up and Love Me Anyway have become set staples, as are old classics San Francisco and Hi Hey There Hello from album #1, “Waiting For The Dawn.”
The “Where’d Your Weekend Go” Tour includes supporting acts Dreamers and Colony House, which will add excitement and likely new ears to the packed crowds of loyal Mowgli’s fans. The tour weaves around the US featuring stops in New York City, Atlanta and Houston before ending in Los Angeles on October 30th for a celebratory concert at the Rock N Roll Marathon.
Stay tuned for our review of their upcoming show this Saturday at Rock & Roll Hotel and look out for The Mowgli’s on the rest of their tour!
